Hi!
In the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, I was fired twice in three months. Despite working in public health for a decade, getting a masters, and landing what I thought was a dream job, the life I built left me depressed and anxious. Clearly, something wasn’t working.
When things seemed bleakest, I had experiences with mushrooms that led me to understand them as the most direct way for people to deeply understand what I had been trying to get at through public health: that our wellbeing as individuals isn’t separate from the wellbeing of the world around us. I was hooked.
I’ve taught hundreds of people how to grow their own mushrooms, and educated them about how to approach psychedelics safely. My favorite part is using my background in research to translate the latest in research to individuals looking to apply findings to their own lives.
I’ll help you learn how to have more good days.
My approach to mushroom health
Foraging mushrooms led me to growing them, and this, in turn, introduced me to growing psychedelic mushrooms. I eventually began teaching others how to grow their own. Life improved once I focused on connecting with beloved people, spending time outdoors, and developing a spiritual practice. My mental health is better than ever.
The scientific literature supports my findings: connection to the natural world and spirituality improves our mental health. Having religious or spiritual beliefs is associated with faster recovery from surgery and better overall mental health. Time in nature is as effective for depression as most mainline treatments, including medication. This is without even considering the burgeoning field of psychedelic therapeutics!
I hold an MPH, MA-R, and am CPR/First Aid certified.
